Title:

Langley 1:1 Coaching Programme

Client:

Langley Group

Details:

Langley Group asked PML to provide 1:1 coaching for newly promoted leaders to support them in their career growth into new roles. This was provided over 8  x 2 hour sessions and was preceded by delegates completing an Insights Discovery psychometric profile and a development needs self- assessment.

Coaches adopted the GROW coaching model, with areas of focus selected by the delegates (thus encouraging them to take responsibility for their own personal development). Brief written notes are issued to delegates after each session.  The final session is an accountability review, checking progress on those actions that delegates have committed to take on the previous 7 sessions.

A summary report detailing the topics discussed and the actions committed to is shared with the delegate and the business sponsor. (Business are keen to spot trends in training needs and also hold their staff accountable).

The detailed content of all sessions is private and confidential.

Outcomes:
  • Delegates learn to challenge their thinking and assumptions, formulate proposals based on objective and justifiable data
  • They learn how to structure their approach to solving problems by adopting the GROW coaching model to clarify their challenges, explore potential options and prioritise and focus on implementing those selected.
  • Delegates gain a greater understanding of their value to the business and consequently where they can add value.
  • Delegates grow in confidence and become more effective in their roles by adopting new behavioural strategies that might have previously hindered their performance (such as more effective time management and better planning and management of meetings)
  • Commissioning businesses receive trend analysis about the most commonly occurring themes being discussed. This feedback often identifies a broader training need within the business which had not been identified previously.
  • Delegates also share the actions they have committed to (at the end of each session) allowing line managers to hold them accountable for their actions.
